The Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland has assumed honorary patronage of the film “Waltz with Bashir” (France, Germany, Israel 2008) by Ari Folman.
“Waltz with Bashir” is an animated documentary about post-traumatic stress disorder as well as a form of self-therapy for its director and protagonist who witnessed the civilian massacre perpetrated in refugee camps at Sabra and Shatila in 1982 while serving in the Israeli army. It is also a film about the contemporary history of Israel, still alive, still difficult to judge, a voice in the political debate and finally - a pacifist film about the absurdity of war.
The film will premiere in cinemas on April 4, 2009.
