On January 14, 2009, a gala concert in memory of Irena Sendler and both awarded and unknown Righteous Among the Nations took place in the Adam Mickiewicz Hall of the University of Poznan. Compositions of Chopin, Nowowiejski and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy were played by the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra from Israel. The concert was organized by the Jewish Religious Community of Poznan. One of the partners was the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland. The event was held under patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Catholic Metropolite of Poznan, the Ambassador of Israel in Poland, the Voivode of Wielkopolskie Province, the Marshal of the Wielkopolskie Province and the President of the City of Poznan.
