Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland intervened in a case of matzevot found during the building works in Janow Lubelski.

There are two Jewish cemeteries in Janowiec Lubelski: the old one, located on Ksieznej St. was devastated and partially built over. The cemetery was established in 17th century. Today on the terrain there are single-family houses. The area is 0.6 ha.

New Jewish cemetery in Janow Lubelski is located on a smallish hill on Wojska Polskiego St., south-east from town housing, west from Lake Misztalec. The cemetery was established in 1824. Its area is 1.4 ha. Probably there are 3 matzevot left – in 1987 one was found on 22 Lipca St. and put on Catholic cemetery.
