linia 2010-07-23 COOPERATION WITH THE PRISON SERVICE. RADOM

The Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland in cooperation with the Prison Service and the City Council is erecting a monument in the form of a lapidarium at the Jewish cemetery in Radom. Matzevot discovered during construction works and transported to the cemetery by the Foundation in July 2008 will be built in the lapidarium.

The construction as well as clean-up works are conducted by the inmates of the local Remand Prison. On
December 16, 2009 in the Remand Prison the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland organized a lecture dedicated to Jewish culture and tradition. The participants were prepared to carrying out clean-up works on Jewish cemeteries, in accordance with the Jewish religious law.

The lecture was conducted within the framework of the "Tikkun - Restoration" project, implemented by the Polish and Israeli Prison Service. The Foundation is a partner of the project.
